Terms of Service

These terms of service govern your use of GitLoki. Please read them carefully before using our application.

1. Introduction

Welcome to GitLoki ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using our application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use GitLoki.

GitLoki is a desktop application that allows users to visually explore Git repositories, run code from various commits, and share development environments.

We've designed GitLoki with developers in mind, making these terms as straightforward as possible. Our goal is to provide you with powerful tools while respecting your rights and privacy. If anything in these terms is unclear, please don't hesitate to contact us for clarification.

2. License Grant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the GitLoki application for your personal or internal business purposes.

This license does not transfer ownership of GitLoki to you, and is solely for the purpose of allowing you to use and benefit from the application as intended. This license applies to the current version of GitLoki and all updates or upgrades that replace or supplement the application and are not distributed with a separate license.

We value open source software, and portions of GitLoki may incorporate third-party open source components, which are subject to their own license terms. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under, or grants you rights that supersede, the terms of any applicable open source software license.

3. Restrictions

While we want you to enjoy using GitLoki, there are certain restrictions on how you can use our application to protect both our users and our service. You agree not to:

  • Modify, adapt, or hack GitLoki or modify another website or application to falsely imply that it is associated with GitLoki
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the GitLoki application, except to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law
  • Rent, lease, loan, sell, redistribute, or sublicense GitLoki
  • Use GitLoki for any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of GitLoki or third-party data contained therein
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to GitLoki or its related systems or networks

These restrictions help ensure GitLoki remains secure and reliable for all users. If you notice any activity that violates these restrictions, please contact us.

4. Your Account

To use certain features of GitLoki, you may need to connect your GitHub or GitLab account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your accounts and any activities that occur under your accounts.

We use OAuth 2.0 for authentication and only request read and write permissions to your public repositories. You can revoke GitLoki's access to your accounts at any time through GitHub or GitLab's security settings, or through GitLoki itself.

We prioritize your data security and privacy. GitLoki will never:

  • Send destructive commands to your repositories
  • Store your Git credentials or authentication tokens unencrypted
  • Share your repository data with third parties by ANY means
  • Track or monitor your activity beyond what's necessary to provide our service

You can request deletion of all data associated with your account at any time by contacting us, though all data that we gain access to is temporary and never stored permanently.

5. Intellectual Property

GitLoki and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of GitLoki and its licensors. The application is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Your repositories and code remain entirely yours. Using GitLoki does not grant us any ownership rights to your content. We only access your repositories with your permission, and solely for the purpose of providing our services to you.

We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that material available through GitLoki infringes on your copyright, please contact us at copyright@gitloki-app.com with details of the alleged infringement.

6. Updates and Support

We may, at our discretion, provide updates, bug fixes, or new versions of GitLoki. These updates may be automatic or require you to install them manually.

We strive to make each update improve security, performance, or functionality. Important security updates may be automatically applied, but we'll always try to notify you about significant changes to the application.

We provide limited technical support for GitLoki. While we strive to make the application as reliable as possible, we cannot guarantee that it will be error-free or that any issues will be fixed in a timely manner.

Support resources available to you include:

  • Documentation and help resources within the application

7. Disclaimer of Warranty

GITLOKI IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We cannot, due to the nature of software, guarantee that GitLoki will be free from bugs, viruses, or other harmful components. We also cannot guarantee that the application will be compatible with all systems or that it will meet your specific requirements.

While we strive to provide a high-quality application, there are certain risks inherent in using any software that interacts with repositories and creates development environments. You acknowledge these risks and agree to use GitLoki at your own discretion and risk.

We recommend always backing up your code and data before using any tool that interacts with your repositories, including GitLoki.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

This limitation applies to all claims, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

We provide tools that interact with your code and repositories. While we take precautions to ensure these interactions are safe, we recommend always backing up your data before using GitLoki.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GitLoki, its affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of GitLoki.

This indemnification includes but is not limited to claims arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your use of GitLoki in a manner that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
  • Any content or code you access, share, or store through GitLoki
  • Any misrepresentation made by you

We will provide notice to you promptly of any such claim, suit, or proceeding and will provide reasonable assistance, at your expense, in defending any such claim.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to GitLoki immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including, without limitation, if you breach these Terms of Service.

You may also terminate these terms at any time by:

  • Uninstalling GitLoki from all of your devices
  • Revoking GitLoki's access to your GitHub or GitLab accounts
  • Discontinuing use of the application
  • Requesting deletion of your account data by contacting us

Upon termination, your right to use GitLoki will cease immediately. All provisions of the Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

We will notify you of any significant changes by:

  • Posting a notice on our website
  • Sending an email to the address associated with your account
  • Displaying a notification within the GitLoki application

By continuing to access or use GitLoki after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you are no longer authorized to use GitLoki.

Historical versions of these Terms will be archived and made available upon request.
